Most People Decide
To Visit Your Church Before They Ever
Walk Through Your Doors.
And Those Decisions Now Start Online
Through What I Call
The Digital Church Front Door.
Churches are built on relationships, trust, communication, and community. In today's digital-first world, a church's first interaction often happens before someone ever walks through the doors. Long before someone steps foot in your sanctuary, they've already visited your church online. They've searched what to expect. They've looked at your website, your socials, maybe asked an AI assistant what a first visit looks like. That digital front door either welcomes them in or quietly turns them away, and most churches not only don’t realize it’s even happening but they also don’t have anyone actually tending to it.
I bring 25 years of marketing leadership and a lifelong passion for ministry with history in both the Global Methodist and Assemblies of God worship, missions, administration, and youth ministry experience to this work, which means I understand both the reverence of a sanctuary plus the energy of contemporary worship, and I believe there's real room for both. That same both/and conviction shapes how I build a church's digital presence: rooted, warm, and welcoming, not just polished with real people, and real solutions to real problems at the center of what I do, the way I think, and the why I put church marketing and communication strategies together the way I do.

Here's What Most
Churches Miss
In Today’s New World Of
Search First Church Shopping.
A visitor's first real interaction with your church usually isn't a greeter at the door or the person picking them up from their car and driving them to the front door via a Golf Cart (Yes, my Northern Friends this is very much so a thing in the south). It's your website loading slowly, or not answering the one question every newcomer actually has: what do I do when I walk in? Or; What do I wear to fit in and be welcomed in?
Meanwhile, search engines, local social communities, your youtube channel, and AI assistants are increasingly where people ask their questions, "what's it like to visit [church name]," "what should I wear," "is there a place for my kids." If your church isn't structured to answer that clearly, online, you're invisible at exactly the moment someone is deciding whether to come at all.
And it goes both ways. I've seen churches misrepresented in local community groups and social media, sometimes by people who've never actually attended, or in other cases, they actually do simply because no one was managing that digital reputation and correcting the record.
None of this is a failure of ministry. It's usually just that no one on staff has the marketing and communications background to own it, and it keeps falling through the cracks between the volunteer running social media and whoever last touched the website years ago when we were in a very different age of church marketing & communications.
SEO & AIO Visibility
Management For Churches
Your Next First-Time Visitor Has Already Searched Your Church.
Before a newcomer ever steps foot in your sanctuary or meets a greeter in the parking lot, they have already evaluated your ministry online. In today’s digital-first culture, search engines and AI models act as the true "Digital Front Door" to your church.
When local families seek a community, they aren’t just looking at billboards up and down 20, 75, 285, 185, 400, or 85; they are asking highly personal, intent-driven questions. They are typing into Google, "churches near me with great kids' programs," or asking AI search assistants, "What is the worship style and dress code at [Your Church Name]?" If your ministry's digital footprint isn't deliberately structured to answer those exact questions, your church remains completely invisible at the precise moment a seeker is looking for a spiritual home.
Why Your Digital Front Door Needs Active Management
Traditional Search Engine Optimization (SEO) ensures your website ranks at the top of Google for local searches. However, the search landscape has shifted into AI Optimization (AIO) and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO). Modern AI platforms do not just pull up a list of website links; they synthesize data from across the web to formulate direct answers about your church's identity, values, and community environment.
Without specialized, technical oversight of this ecosystem:
The Search Assist Blindspot: AI assistants and search algorithms will scrape outdated, third-party data, misrepresenting your church's culture or schedule to potential visitors.
The Local Visibility Gap: Your website will fail to rank for critical local geo-targeted terms (like "denominational or contemporary worship in [City Name]"), quietly turning seekers away before they ever get the chance to say yes.
Wasted Kingdom Resources: Vital digital outreach avenues; such as the $10,000 monthly Google Non-Profit Ad Grant; are left completely unutilized because the church lacks the compliance infrastructure to maintain search visibility rules.
Tending the Door: Growth Rooted in Stewardship
Managing your church's SEO and AIO isn't about running corporate marketing gimmicks or chasing shallow digital metrics. It is an act of digital hospitality and strategic stewardship.
By restructuring your site's technical data architecture to align with modern search behaviors, my NorthStar Framework was intentionally crafted to clear away the digital friction that keeps the unchurched and the seeking from finding your doors. I ensure that the warmth, truth, and community found inside your building are perfectly accurately reflected online. Let’s collaborate to optimize your digital front door, protect your ministry’s reputation across AI models, and make your church a visible, welcoming light in your local community.
Google Ads Grant
Management For Churches
Are You Leaving $120,000 in Annual Outreach Funding on the Table?
Imagine if a local foundation approached your church leadership tomorrow and offered a completely free, $10,000 monthly grant dedicated solely to inviting local families to your campus. You would accept it without hesitation.
Yet, an estimated 85% of eligible churches completely miss out on the Google Non-Profit Ad Grant, leaving up to $120,000 a year in free kingdom advertising completely unused. For the few ministries that do manage to claim it, many lose it within six months. Because Google enforces complex, strict keyword regulations and high click-through-rate (CTR) minimums, keeping the grant active requires a deep technical capability that busy church staff and volunteers simply do not have the time to master.
Turning Wasted Stewardship into an Active Digital Gateway
When properly managed, the Google Ad Grant serves as an incredibly powerful engine for your Digital Front Door. It allows your ministry to show up at the absolute top of local search results—above traditional websites—exactly when people are actively searching for hope, community, and answers.
With dedicated, expert management, this grant ensures that when a seeker in your city types:
"Churches with youth ministries near me"
"Where to find grief support groups in [City Name]"
"Easter and Christmas Eve services near me"
Your church is the very first thing they see. Best of all, because Google funds the ad spend entirely, this expansive community outreach strategy costs your internal operational budget zero dollars.
Protection, Compliance, and Peace of Mind
Managing your Google Ad Grant isn't about running aggressive corporate promotions or treating the gospel like a sales funnel. It is about digital hospitality, visibility, and legal protection.
With 25 years of advanced search advertising experience dating back to Google Ads' launch year, paired with specialized expertise in marketing compliance, I step in as a defensive shield and strategic partner for your ministry. I handle the entire process from the ground up: securing your eligibility, building high-intent invitational campaigns, and strictly maintaining the complex, algorithmic compliance rules required to guard your account from permanent suspension. Let’s reclaim these vital resources together, fund your digital doorway safely, and ensure your church remains a highly visible, trusted light for individuals and families in your community.
Why This Work Is Personal
My call to ministry didn't start with a title. It started in a nursery room.
I grew up inside Carthage United Methodist Church, in the small upstate New York town my family called home for generations. I was there from nursery school on, helping run VBS and nursery operations before I was even old enough to call it "serving." That congregation, and that town, poured something into me long before I had language for what was actually happening.
The leadership never stopped, it just kept showing up in volunteer form. Youth Bible studies and Porch Worship gatherings at summer camp. Nursery and VBS at my home church. Years later, at a church home in the Atlanta area, I stepped into ministry communications and special events, led a young adult small group, and helped launch that church's presence on YouTube; building, without knowing it yet, the earliest version of what I now call the Digital Front Door Framework. I was doing ministry leadership. I just never once had someone hand me the title, or the invitation to make it official, or the paycheck that tells you it's allowed to be your calling and not just how you serve or volunteer at church (for 11+ hours a day).
It's taken me the better part of ten years since, and a career built on the other side of marketing and growth strategy, to stop treating this as something I do on the side and admit what I think I always half-knew: this was never a pivot. It was a calling I kept answering informally, one volunteer role at a time, long before I let myself call it what it actually is.
I'm done waiting for someone to hand me the title. I'm doing the work, in the open, and trusting the right door recognizes it when it sees it.
Ministry Background:
Served across Global Methodist and Assemblies of God churches and ministries, in worship, missions, administration, and youth ministry
Built a church's YouTube ministry channel from the ground up as a volunteer, years before churches widely understood digital-first outreach
25 years of marketing and brand leadership, now applied specifically to ministry communications and community engagement
Understands both the reverence of traditional worship and the energy of contemporary worship, and builds digital strategy that honors both
Communications Leadership For
The Whole Digital Church Front Door:
The methodology
Church Marketing & Communications isn't about running a few extra Facebook posts or posting annoucements. It's about treating your church's entire online presence, website, search visibility, social channels, paid outreach, and email, as one connected digital church front door, led by someone who actually understands marketing, communications, community, and ministry.
This includes:
Ministry communications strategy
Digital ministry strategy
Church brand stewardship
Website and digital experience leadership
Community engagement strategy
Content systems and storytelling
Search visibility and reputation management
Marketing operations and infrastructure
Cross-functional leadership between pastors, staff, volunteers, and vendors
Website structure that actually answers a first-time visitor's real questions
SEO, AIO, and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization), so your church shows up accurately when people search or ask AI assistants what to expect
Paid outreach on Google and Meta, built to invite, not to sell
Email and community list systems built around low-pressure participation, not pressure to commit
Reputation and community management, so misinformation gets corrected and your church's actual identity stays intact online
When Put Together: you get a digital church front door that reflects who your church actually is, warm, clear, and easy to say yes to, whether someone's coming from a hymn tradition, a contemporary one, or nowhere at all yet.

Your Digital Church Front Door
Is Often The Only "Visit"
Some People Ever Make.:
Some people will search your church, read what they find, and decide never to walk in based on that alone. Others will show up because something online made them feel like they'd already be welcome.
Without someone tending the digital church front door:
first-time visitors can't find basic answers to real questions
your church's identity gets shaped by outdated posts, secondhand accounts, or nothing at all
newcomer pathways depend entirely on whoever happens to notice a new face
search engines and AI assistants describe your church inaccurately, because nothing structured tells them otherwise
A welcoming digital church front door isn't a marketing nicety.
It's often the difference between someone walking in the first time, and someone deciding they already know enough not to.
This work is ideal for:
Churches Seeking Executive-Level Communications Leadership
Established churches seeking modernization without losing identity
Growing churches needing scalable communication systems
Multi-site churches requiring brand consistency
Ministries seeking stronger digital engagement
Churches preparing for future growth
Especially churches experiencing:
newcomers who never return after visiting the website first
inconsistent or outdated online information
an unused Google Ad Grant
no real strategy for how new people actually find and engage with the church online
Who This Is For:
Churches & Ministries Ready To Understand The Digital Church Front Door
Is No Longer An Option But A Must Have For Church Growth.
How This Works:
Every ministry that retains me does so on a defined, sustainable scope, whether that's a fractional Communications Director role or a conversation about bringing me on in a direct staff capacity. I'm equally open to either. What matters most to me is fit: the right ministry, the right season, the right mutual commitment to doing this well.
What doesn't change between those two paths is the value of the work itself. Senior-level communications and growth leadership, the kind built on 25 years of experience and a lifelong calling to ministry, isn't priced like an entry-level hire or a task list. Whether fractional or on staff, this is executive-level leadership, and the investment reflects that.

Church Marketing & Communications Is Fully Custom To Your Ministry, Under Remote Work For Hire Agreements.
Every church's digital front door looks different, so there's no one-size-fits-all package here.
Engagements are structured based on:
number of campuses or locations
current website and systems condition
the level of scope & time commitment required of me. Is this part time, full time or something else you aren’t sure what to call (Let’s figure it out).
staff and volunteer capacity already in place
The Light Doesn't Announce Itself.
It's Just Seen.
This Work Helps Churches & Ministries
Become Visible So They Are Seen
As The Light
In The Darkness
That’s the Ministry,
That’s The mission:
I believe we're called to be the light in the darkness for others, and increasingly, that starts online, before anyone ever lights a candle in a Christmas Eve service or opens a hymnal in your Sanctuary.
Whether your tradition leans toward the reverence of How Great Thou Art or the energy of contemporary worship, the digital front door should reflect the same welcome either way: come as you are, and let's help you find your way in. And that’s exactly what I help your church do while aligning that warm welcome with your church’s core values and message at the same time!
