Fractional & Remote
Head of Marketing
for Luxury Real Estate Agents, Firms & Brokerages
I grew up in Real Estate. Not the marketing side of it at first, the actual side of it: Administrative work, property management, listings management, learning the MLS and FMLS systems from the inside, understanding what contract to close actually looks like when you’re the one keeping every piece of the process moving. That background is exactly why this page exists and why I don’t have structured offerings in Real Estate Marketing because with me, while I might be brought on as your Brokerage’s Real Estate Marketing Manager, I can also serve, and step in to the full operational department as backup, as an extra set of eyes, or ears, or even the process documentation specialist that actually thrives and loves being hands on in a very broad way across the entire industry.
I won’t lie - I’ve been absolutely blessed to work with some of the top named agents and brokerages across the Metro Atlanta area for the bulk of my career. I don’t name drop as a standard but, trust me, when you’ve been given some of the opportunities that I have over the course of the last 20 years, it shapes you, it teaches you, and it even empowers you to see a much larger picture in the grand scheme of things. I’m not a marketer who has studied real estate from the outside, I’m a marketer that has been deeply engrained into the entire industry from birth, with family still owning a family owned brokerage in Northern, NY, with brands I’ve built from the ground up now ranking as the top brokerage(s) across the Metro Atlanta area and the South East. Yes, I really am blessed, and do not even remotely have an ego about it, infact I rarely ever talk about my wins in this industry even though many think I should and question why I don’t. It really ultimately boils down to the fact that I’m humble more than anything else for those that do wonder, and that is the honest truth.
For those that don’t know me, I’m Misty Burrell, A Creative, Head of Marketing & Your Host At EmBeance that started out in the Real Estate industry long before I ever even reached the legal age to work creating spreadsheets, creating contact databases (that are still in use today at that Brokerage in Northern NY) and that in many ways lives, and breathes this industry but has never jumped to take the test even though in one of those opportunities I did get to go through the classes, because that’s not what I have ever wanted for myself. I like the back of the house just fine, and that’s where I personally, thrive and shine making other people and even homes look good! (Need staging or open house concepts that are more modern but traditional at the same time - I might just be your golden ticket there too cause home interiors and entertaining really is and are my biggest passion(s) and hobby(s) paired with floral design outside of marketing).
Take all of that into consideration, when I tell you that I serve as a digital, and print marketing and design hub for the luxury real estate market serving agents, firms, and brokerages all along the East Coast (All states across the East Coast), and into the Central time zone territory as well (Alabama and Texas only). I am not a licensed agent, and I don’t want to be. I work strictly on the backend, which means you get someone who understands the systems, and the structure required who has no desire to compete with you for a client or a commission but, instead serves as a compliment and partner in marketing and brand management behind the scenes that allows you to be out in the public, meeting with buyers, sellers, and community members that want to get to know you before they sign the required paperwork.

Who I Partner Best With:
I work exclusively with luxury real estate agents, brokerages, and firms across the Northeast and Southeast then into Alabama and Texas on homes prices over $350k. I don’t work with agents or brokerages serving homes as a standard below that price point due to normalized marketing budget constraints.
A firm boundary I hold for as open ended as I am, it’s important to note that I DO NOT WORK WITH REO, distressed, foreclosure, or eviction-related listings, or the teams, brokerages, or agents serving that market. That is a firm boundary I hold that is values based, it is not a gap on my end because I do have experience in it, which is where this line in the sand came from, and it’s a line in the sand that I hold personally to my core (I find it entirely too heartbreaking and just can’t do it incase you need to know).
My work is therefore built around helping people find their way home, for the long term, not as a short term investment or even as an investment at all, and not as a means to an end in serving a subset of the industry that contributes to the process of people losing their home or driving up home costs for everyday people which only further leads to the continual need for the distressed market based around inflation, deception, and even white collar crime as we saw in the 08 crisis and the years that followed. Maybe I know too much, Maybe I saw too much but, this is the line in the sand as a result of that whole era.
If this is understood, then let’s move forward into a much more positive, light shining and bringing subject, that I truly love, and enjoy, shall we…..
What Most Are Missing
When It Comes To
Marketing Real Estate!
I’ve seen it for years now, and I’ve even experienced it from agents as I explored the idea of moving shortly after the pandemic timeframe lifted. Every agent I spoke with was either impossible to get ahold of, didn’t or wouldn’t show up to scheduled meetings for home tours after I’d closed out entire weeks and traveled for a home search leaving me completely hanging or they were looking at my transaction and search for a forever home as an investment to the point that it made me stop looking all together. They lost me. Completely. And 5 years later, here I still am. Deciding I’ll just stay put. (for now at least) and make the most out of where I’m planted even though this was NEVER the plan.
What it’s taught me though is that most agents, brokerages, firms, and teams treat branding like separate problems for separate vendors, A photographer here, a print shop there, a social media freelancer somewhere else, and a disconnected agency handling ads, then another for their website.

Economic development and impact storytelling that is honest, and substantiated attracting newcomers, and those that are new to the community while also advocating for long term residents.
PR & Media Relations:
Press Release Writing and Media Outreach for events, milestones, and community initiatives.
Media relationship building on the organizations behalf.
On-Camera representation as needed and media appearances when a story genuinely calls for it. (Those that know me best, know I absolutely hate being on camera so trust me when I say in no way am I chasing the spotlight but, I will do it when it moves the mission forward, and when it’s needed because if my own home town has taught me anything through the years it’s how needed some faces are that genuinely care and to prove that point, I still can’t drive into that town without somehow ending up in the paper within 2 weeks, it’s just who I am, and my love for community has always been a core part of me before there was ever a title, or position attached to this portion of my career) it just took me a long time to understand it for what it was and is.
Who I Partner Best With:
Business Improvement Districts
Main Street Programs, and Downtown Business Associations.
Chambers Of Commerce
Tourism & Economic Development Authorities
Local Businesses and Business Coalitions
Hotels and Local Tourism / Hospitality Groups
Restaurants, and Downtown Establishments that regular partner with Downtown Districts maintaining an active community presence.
Local event teams and fundraising committees.
Local churches and non profits hosting events, giveaways, and fundraisers for the community. (Food pantries, Animal Rescues, Shelters, Coat Closets (especially for interviews), Career assistance centers, community run gardens, and medical clinics.
All in all, I work best with organizations that already have real programming and real community investment behind them because they are bringing real solutions to real problems, and asking the full community to join in for a greater purpose to better our communities, and to strengthen them.
I also want to make it clear that I am not just a vendor. I fully understand that we are now in an era that requires this work to be full time, and a salaried role, this is here for a reason, and it’s because I actually prefer this method of work. My only stipulation is that I primarily work from home. In community participation is completely okay. I love getting out, I love being in my community but, I am also in full transparency a full time, family caregiver with minimal backup. Yes, I can get out but, that getting out is structured and scheduled.
This is my way of balancing home needs plus something I’ve been called to admittedly my entire life the more I’ve looked back on this. So I say this to say it in full transparency that way there is no miscommunication, and that way no one assumes I can sit in an office all day when that is the furthest thing from possible that there probably is in my world right now.
Working With Me Isn’t VA Support.
It’s Marketing Leadership On A Retainer or Salary.
While yes, I absolutely do manage individual channels for brands, I do so on a higher level scale under a full picture framework, with a strategy, with purpose, and with a full brand architecture behind me built inside a long term retainer / salary that is work for hire based.
I’m not an agency, I’m not a virtual assistant / VA. I’m a sr level marketing manager with over two decades of experience, working strictly in work for hire agreements to bring real solutions to real practices that want to retain marketing management help for long term, and at a full service scale to cover the entire marketing ecosystem.
You know you need help, you just haven’t found figured out exactly what that looks like in a full capacity. That’s where I come on, and work with you to honestly uncover what that looks like in a fully customizable way.
